Duchess Catherine honours scouts
OHMYGOSSIP — Duchess Catherine honoured 400 scouts at Windsor Castle at the National Review of Queen’s Scouts.
Britain’s Duchess Catherine honoured 400 scouts at Windsor Castle yesterday (21.04.13). The royal – who is six months pregnant with her first child with Prince William – glowed in a green Mulberry coat as she met with youngsters at the National Review of Queen’s Scouts.
Catherine, 31, spent time with the young scouts, many of whom received the Queen’s Scout Award and gallantry awards for bravery, before a service at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor.
Chief scout Bear Grylls commended the duchess for being an “incredible” role model.
He told BBC News: “She’s also such a generous volunteer and everyone is so excited to have her in the scouting family. Many people have followed her lead and are getting involved and enjoying the adventure.”
The duchess herself was a brownie and girl guide when she was younger and became a volunteer in 2012 and regularly helps out at scout meetings close to her home in North Wales.
In March, Catherine attended a scout camp in the Lake District where she volunteered at an activity centre.
The 31-year-old royal’s public support the scouts programme has led to an increase in adult volunteers. More than 2,812 adults have joined the scouts since Catherine began volunteering last year.
