Duchess of Cambridge shops for antiques
OHMYGOSSIP — Britain’s Duchess of Cambridge spent half an hour browsing for antiques in the Antique Emporium in Norfolk, but left empty-handed.
Kate Middleton has been antique shopping. The 31-year-old royal was spotted out and about in Holt, Norfolk, perusing boutiques for bargain furniture with a group of female friends, but ended up going home empty-handed.
Catherine – formerly known as Kate Middleton – spent a full 30 minutes searching for goods in Mews Antique Emporium, a shop which specialises in furniture, books and collectables.
A spokesperson for the shop told the Mail on Sunday newspaper: ‘The Duchess looked radiant and well. She was happy to mingle with other customers and security was very low key. No purchases were made by the Duchess, although some were made by her friends.”
Another insider revealed: “Kate has good taste but she prefers a more contemporary style.”
She was seen 25 miles from Anmer and in the town of Fakenham, about 13 miles away.
Catherine is expecting her first child with Prince William and the couple have a lot of shopping to do before the baby arrives this summer.
They are expected to move into a cottage on the Queen’s Sandringham Estate, and their London home at Kensington Palace is also being renovated.
Catherine – who studied art history at university – has reportedly been searching for the perfect artwork to decorate and could even source pieces from the historic Royal Collection, which loans art to royal households.
A royal source told People magazine: “It’s a huge project. Both of them are involved in it – it’s their future home. She has a continuing interest in craftsmanship – the kind of things that lend a person to decoration.”
