Cindy Crawford was ‘too young’ for Richard Gere marriage
OHMYGOSSIP — Cindy Crawford has said she was “too young” for her failed marriage to actor Richard Gere and admitted she was “still figuring out” who she wanted to be.
Cindy Crawford says she was “too young” to be married to Richard Gere.
The couple split in 1994 after a four-year marriage and the 47-year-old model has admitted she was too immature for the relationship with the actor, who is 16 years older than her.
Speaking to Oprah Winfrey, she said: “At 22, as a young woman, I was kind of still figuring out who I was and what I wanted to be… and he was already 37.
“In some ways he knew I was still growing and changing; I didn’t wanna hear it from him, because, at 22, you think you know everything and you think you’re already formed.”
Although Cindy can now realise how the age gap and her growth meant their partnership wouldn’t last, she admitted it would’ve been difficult to change to make it work with the ‘Arbitrage’ star.
She added: “It’s hard to change in a relationship because what one person might have signed up for… all of a sudden you’re not that anymore.”
Since 1998, she has been happily married to Rande Gerber, and the couple share son Presley, 13, and 11-year-old daughter Kaia.
