LeAnn Rimes breaks down at Country to Country

OHMYGOSSIP — LeAnn Rimes broke down in tears at London’s C2C: Country to Country festival yesterday (17.03.13) after she was overwhelmed by the reaction to her track ‘Borrowed’. LeAnn Rimes broke down in tears at London’s C2C: Country to Country festival yesterday (17.03.13).

The pop-turned country princess was so overwhelmed by the reaction to one of her most personal tracks, ‘Borrowed’ – about her affair with Eddie Cibrian, now her husband – she couldn’t stem the tears as she performed at The O2 venue.

She told the audience: “It’s an amazing thing to [be able to] sing, but when you write something and you guys act like that, it really means something.”

LeAnn then finished her set with her biggest hits ‘Can’t Fight the Moonlight’ and ‘How Do I Live’, as well as a rendition of traditional song ‘Summertime’ in the style of Janis Joplin and an a capella version of ‘Amazing Grace’.

She was followed by Darius Rucker, who mixed things up by playing Steve Miller Band’s ‘The Joker’ and Hank Williams Jr’s ‘Family Tradition’ as well as his own tracks, including ‘Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It’ and a countrified version of his old band, Hootie and the Blowfish’s ‘Only Want To Be With You’.

Darius appeared excited to be in the UK, telling the crowd: “I’ve been waiting for this night for months, so I’m drinking tonight to all the people who want to bring country music to England.”

Carrie Underwood headlined the event, mixing tracks from across her four albums, including hearty renditions of ‘Two Black Cadillacs’ ‘Some Hearts’ ‘Cowboy Casanova’ and ‘Last Night’. She was backed by a seven piece band, and performed in front of a huge screen displaying backdrops of the old west, such as a diner and a railway track leading into the desert.

Ahead of performing ‘Temporary Home’ and ‘So Small’, Carrie told the audience: “I know I have a lot of cheating songs, and I’m proud of them because they’re really fun to sing… But these next two are very close to my heart, and I hope you love them as much as I do.”

Carrie finished the night with another ballad ‘I Know You Won’t’ and the title track of her latest album ‘Blown Away’, to rapturous applause from the audience.

She later tweeted: “Incredible crowd tonight at @The_O2 arena tonight for the @C2Cofficial festival! All I can say is “Wow!” and “Thank you!” #amazed(sic).”

The first day of the festival had taken place on Saturday (16.03.13) and seen performances from Little Big Town and Tim McGraw, among others.
