Selena Gomez has received a death threat. According to TMZ, the 19-year-old star is said to be in “extreme fear” as a result of the threat, and she has obtained a restraining order against 46 year old Thomas Brodnicki – a man with a criminal history of stalking – after he allegedly told a therapist God had ordered him to kill her.
He also claimed he had traveled from Chicago to Los Angeles to meet her and “visited her workplace at least three times”, according to declarations made in court documents from Selena and her lawyer Blair Berk.
The Los Angeles Police Department is said to be treating the case “extremely seriously” because of Thomas’ history of stalking, and the revelation came about during a mental evaluation after he threatened to “scratch people’s eyes out on the street”.
Selena is not the only Hollywood star to struggle with the attention of a stalker — a man who was seen at Halle Berry‘s home three times in three days earlier this year was ordered to stand trial yesterday.
Richard Anthony Franco was charged after police arrested him outside her home in July, but he has pleaded not guilty to one count of stalking and one of residential burglary.
