Denise Van Outen: Twitter gives me a voice
Denise Van Outen has said that Twitter gives her a voice. The TV presenter and West End star told Metro that the social networking website lets her correct lies about her life in the press.
Van Outen said: “It’s a way of having a voice. A couple of silly gossip mags are saying my marriage is on the rocks. There’s a pattern with these magazines.
You have a first date and they write you’re getting married, you have a baby and they write you’re getting divorced. With Twitter I can say there’s nothing wrong with our marriage and we’re not living separate lives.”
Van Outen added that her Twitter spat with actress Natalie Cassidy over maternity leave has not made her more cautious about using the site.
Cassidy had criticised Van Outen for returning to work two weeks after giving birth. Van Outen responded that Cassidy was a hypocrite for promoting her own “reality pregnancy/new mum show”.
“I’ve never met her but I’m prepared to take on anyone who criticises my parenting skills,” Van Outen said.
“If a woman chooses to go back to work or chooses to stay at home and be a hands-on mum it’s entirely up to her.”
