Jennifer Aniston, Justin Theroux spend $450,000 on painting
Jennifer Aniston has splashed $450,000 (£290,000) on a painting at an auction in New York. The Friends star snagged a 72″ by 60″ painting by American creative Glenn Ligon at the ‘Artists for Haiti’ benefit on Thursday, with rumoured boyfriend Justin Theroux bidding on her behalf.
Aniston, who was in the room at the time of the auction, “clapped enthusiastically after [Theroux’s] winning bid”, according to ArtInfo.
The piece aquired by Aniston is Stranger #4, an abstract 2011 work of oil, charcoal and graphite on canvas. It had been expected to sell for between $150,000 (£96,000) and $200,000 (£129,000).
The ‘Artists For Haiti’ event, which funds health and education incentives in the Caribbean country, was partly organised by Aniston’s Along Came Polly co-star Ben Stiller, and raised over $13.6m (£8.7m).
Aniston and Theroux were alleged to have moved in together in August.
