Lady Gaga is an unabashed tramp, going old-school Broadway on a remake of a lively, jazzy classic, ‘The Lady Is a Tramp,’ with Tony Bennett. The collaboration follows the release of Bennett’s duets with Mariah Carey and Amy Winehouse, which were released this week off his forthcoming ‘Duets II’ album, out Sept. 20.
Gaga showcases her powerhouse vocals and signature theatricality in this playful pair-up with Bennett. The original song is a show tune from the 1937 Rodgers and Hart musical ‘Babes in Arms,’ which spoofs on New York high society.
The classic has been covered by everyone from legends like Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald, to the cast of ‘Glee,’ and the Gaga-Bennett rendition is just as showstopping as the best of them!
As expected, Gaga’s collaboration is much more upbeat than Amy Winehouse’s somber last song, ‘Body and Soul,’ her duet with Bennett that debuted yesterday (Sept. 14) on what would have been the late singer’s 28th birthday.
