Lisa Kudrow to host 15th Webby Awards
Lisa Kudrow has been confirmed to host the upcoming Webby Awards. The former Friends star, who now appears in the online series Web Therapy, will be responsible for ensuring that winners observe the traditional five-word limit for acceptance speeches.
“Lisa Kudrow has really embraced online entertainment, using her iconic style and sense of humour to create Web Therapy, one of the funniest web series today,” said David-Michel Davies, the executive director of the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences.
“She is the natural choice to host this year’s Webby Awards, having been recognised by the Academy for her outstanding role as internet-based therapist Fiona Wallice, creating a whole new character to love for years to come.”
Kudrow won a Webby earlier this year for ‘Best Individual Performance In An Online Video’ for Web Therapy, while the series itself picked up a second consecutive gong for ‘Best Comedy: Long Form’.
Web Therapy was picked up by Showtime earlier this year, with reports suggesting that the network is planning to air the show in half-hour episodes by combining instalments of the web series and commissioning new material.
The Webby Awards take place at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York on Monday, June 13.
