Charlotte Ronson designs for Uniqlo

Charlotte Ronson has designed a limited collection for Uniqlo. The New York based fashion designer – the sister of producer Mark Ronson and DJ Sam Ronson – revealed she jumped at the chance to work with the brand and create a six piece capsule collection because she wanted to try something different.

Charlotte – who creates the I [Heart] Ronson collection for J.C. Penney along with her own contemporary line – told WWD: “It made sense within the brand. It’s worldwide – and through Asia, we already have a great business there.”

“Since it’s hitting in spring, we focused on jersey and knits. I usually do a lot more wovens, so it was nice to work around lots of different jerseys. The feel was a seaside retreat, with coastal countryside as well as nautical influences and whimsical prints.”

Charlotte isn’t the only designer to team up with the brand for spring. Other collaborators including Vena Cava’s Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock and Costello Tagliapietra’s Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra, Zechia, Tiny Dinosaur, Suzuki Takayuki, Nine and Double Standard Clothing will all create their own collection for Uniqlo’s Designers Invitation Project.

Past designers for the project include Phillip Lim, Alexander Wang and Alice Roi.
