Jennifer Lopez: I do have to work at it just like every other girl in the world
Jennifer Lopez hates having to go to the gym. The singer and American Idol judge — who raises twins Max and Emme with husband Marc Anthony – admits she used to get away with little or no exercise in the past, but now has to put the work in to achieve the results she wants.
“I do have to work at it just like every other girl in the world, especially after the babies you know,” she said.
“Things have kind of changed for me, I was spoiled before, I love to work out, I was always very athletic, but I didn’t have to and now I kind of have to. Which sucks.
“You know, at the end of the day, the babies are the light of my life, and the most important thing to me is my family. They come first and then everything else kind of comes after. So long as they’re healthy and happy I feel like I’m doing a good job as a person.”
Lopez recently dismissed critics who claim that she is not a good singer, because she has finally come into her own and let go of doubts she had about her shortcomings.
“I’m very proud of who I am as a vocalist from where I started,” she said. “The voice was always there, I was just so insecure about it in the beginning.”
Lopez also credited husband Anthony with helping her to let go of her hang-ups about her musical talent and encouraging her as she recorded her upcoming album.
“Marc helped me so much because he was the one who was like, ‘You have a beautiful voice,’” she recalled.
“I think people are gonna be surprised with some of the vocals on this album. There’s even songs on this album that when he heard the demo, he was like, ‘You’re gonna sing that?’ When he heard my version, he was like, ‘Wow.’ Tears in his eyes. ‘I’m so proud of you.’”
