Colin Firth: Bye Bye, Bridget Jones?

Colin Firth could be saying goodbye to Bridget Jones’s Diary. The British star — who recently bagged an Oscar for his role in The King’s Speech — was rumored to be in line for a reunion with Renee Zellweger for a third Bridget Jones movie but now Colin may ditch his old flame.

“To say Colin is in demand as an actor is the understatement of the year,” said one insider.

“Colin was being offered some amazing roles before his Oscar and that is only going to be more of the same now.

“Bridget Jones is in his past and it’s uncertain whether he would want to do a big franchise movie and a role he is beginning to grow out of.”

Meanwhile, Colin — who is married to Italian film producer-and-director Livia Giuggioli – says the secret to a happy marriage is treating it like a “marathon”.

“You know, we’ve made it 15 years together. I think that’s pretty good going, by Hollywood standards. And it’s going to go on forever. You just you navigate things on a daily basis. We are crazy about each other,” he said.

“We’re very committed on a daily basis to how we deal with our family lives. But the real secret is time — we have to make sure that we spend enough time together.

“Every relationship in life you’re going to have to take care of, there’s a marathon factor to it.”
