Carey Mulligan wants to grow her hair back
Carey Mulligan wants her hair back. The British actress has apparently been taking protein capsules in a desperate bid to make her luscious locks grow back after a particularly dramatic cut.
“She would do anything to have long, natural hair again, but she can’t grow it,” a source told Britain’s Mail on Sunday newspaper.
“She’s been recommended to take the pills for six months. While her hair is slowly but surely growing back, it’s taking a long time and she doesn’t feel she will have her confidence back until she’s happy with it.
“Before she got the part in An Education, her hair was light brown and long and textured. It went well past her shoulders.
“When she auditioned for the role she knew it required her to dye her hair dark brown and she was initially intrigued to see what she would look like. When the colorist had finished with her new look, she was delighted and felt it really suited her.”
In the summer of 2008 Carey was cast in Public Enemies, set in the Thirties, for which she had to turn to the peroxide bottle.
“The role was exciting for her,” the source added.
“Carey is not overly concerned with aesthetics but is incredibly professional, so she was stoic about having to sacrifice her looks for her art. She was eager to please, so she obliged.
“But when she finished filming she burst into tears because of the damage the peroxide had done.
“Her hair has grown back around two inches since then, which is very frustrating so she is trying new products
“She won’t have hair extensions because it would be too much of an effort. She barely wears make-up and is very natural.
“She eats organic food and wears ethical clothing so for her to become fake would go against everything she stands for. The most she has done is take the supplement.”
