Joe Mantegna’s daughter Gia Mantegna named Miss Golden Globe
Gia Mantegna, a daughter of “Criminal Minds” star Joe Mantegna, was named Thursday night to serve as Miss Golden Globe at next month’s awards ceremony. The 20-year-old Mantegna is a cast member of the TeenNick series “Gigantic.”
She made her debut in the 2003 film “Uncle Nino,” which starred Anne Archer, Trevor Morgan and her father. She also appeared in the films “Unaccompanied Minors,” “13 Going on 30” and “In the Land of Women.”
“I am honored to be part of this wonderful tradition created by the HFPA,” Mantegna said, referring to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which conducts the Golden Globe Awards.
“I have grown up watching the Golden Globes with my family and feel so fortunate to be part of such a magical evening so early in my career.”
The elder Mantegna received a Golden Globe nomination for best supporting actor in a series, mini-series or made-for-television movie for his portrayal of Dean Martin in the 1998 HBO made-for-television movie “The Rat Pack.”
Mantegna was named Miss Golden Globe at a party at Cecconi’s restaurant in West Hollywood.
Miss Golden Globe is traditionally a daughter of a well-known celebrity who assists in the ceremony.
Previous Miss Golden Globes include Laura Dern, the daughter of Diane Ladd and Bruce Dern, Joely Fisher, the daughter of Connie Stevens and Eddie Fisher, and Melanie Griffith, the daughter of Tippi Hedren.
Golden Globe nominations will be announced Tuesday, and the awards show will be held Jan. 16.
