Jenny McCarthy says Jim Carrey relationship stopped being fun
Jenny McCarthy has opened up to Oprah Winfrey about why she and Jim Carrey decided to call time on their romance. “Tell me,” Oprah asked Jenny, “when did you know it was over?”
“You know,” the 37-year-old replied, “the simple word I can give — and there’s a few, so let me say a few. The first thing is, when it’s not fun anymore, you need to start investigating and do an inquiry into the relationship.”
McCarthy also address her image while she was dating funnyman Carrey.
“I’ve learned that,” she says, “and this is why my identification wasn’t caught up [in] being a celebrity’s … girlfriend. I checked into myself. How does my ego feel? … My ego’s fine. I’m a warrior mom.
“I always got back on my feet, and I know especially this year who I am.”
Jim, 48, and Jenny broke up in April after nearly five years together. McCarthy recently revealed she’s fallen for 35-year-old Las Vegas hunk Jason Toohey.
Previous reports have claimed Jim and Jenny split because of the actor’s ongoing battle with depression.
“While they always seemed so happy in public, behind the scenes was a different story,” a source said.
“They were always busting up and getting back together.
“Jim’s problems with depression were a major issue for Jenny and apparently that proved to be the final straw.
“Jenny was constantly on an emotional roller-coaster.
“At the worst times, Jim would simply vanish off the radar, not picking up her phone calls — even hiding out in hotels or one of his homes.
“Jenny is a gorgeous and talented actress and very much wants to move on with her life.
“She knows there’s someone out there who can make her happy — and without all the drama she had with Jim.”
