Spencer Pratt arrested for possessing illegal weapons in Costa Rica

Spencer Pratt (27) has been arrested for possessing illegal weapons in Costa Rica. The reality TV star — who is currently in the process of divorcing his The Hills costar Heidi Montag — was caught with a “hunting weapon” while in an airport heading back to Los Angeles, but insists he made an “honest mistake”.

“I’ve spent the last week living alone in the jungle, reflecting on my past transgressions, and working to become a better person. I had to live off the land, and hunt to survive,” he said in a statement.

“As I departed the country this morning to continue my spiritual journey, I mistakenly brought my hunting weapons to the airport. It was an honest mistake, and they sent me on my way.”

Spencer has also been banned from returning to the country, though insists it is unrelated to his arrest.

“On an unrelated note, I’m not allowed in the country anymore — but that’s because of the chicken incident,” he added.

Yesterday, Spencer wrote on Twitter he had spent time in prison over the weekend.

“Costa Rican jail smells like children’s tears. And soup. Delicious soup,” he said.

“Thanks to jail, I finally have something in common with Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and that Lohan chick.”

Heidi is also in Costa Rica, where she is staying while divorce proceedings with Spencer go through.
