OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth is “very happy” about Princess Eugenie’s engagement.
The 91-year-old monarch and her husband Prince Philip – Eugenie’s grandparents – were so happy when they found out Jack Brooksbank had got down on one knee during a recent trip to Nicaragua.
Speaking on The One Show, Eugenie said: “Granny actually knew right at the beginning, she was one of the very few people at the beginning, we left her this weekend and had a lovely time and she was very happy, as was my grandfather.”
Whilst A Buckingham Palace spokesman added that the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh “are very pleased and wish the couple all the best”.
Meanwhile, Princess Eugenie previously revealed it was a “complete surprise” when Jack proposed to her when they were on holiday this month.
She said: “The lake was so beautiful. The light was just a special light I had never seen. I actually said this is an incredible moment, and then he popped the question, which was really surprising even though we have been together seven years. I was over the moon. [It was a] complete surprise. But it was the perfect moment, we couldn’t be happier.”
Whilst Jack added: “It was love at first sight. I love Eugenie so much and we are just so happy and over the moon for what is to come.”
Jack also didn’t have the ring with him when he decided to propose as he wanted to design the piece of jewellery with his bride-to-be.
He shared: “I found a ring in a jewellers and then proposed to Eugenie without it and came back and we designed the diamonds around this padparadscha sapphire. And what’s amazing about it is that it changes colour from every different angle that you look at it, which is what I think of Eugenie. That she changes colour and is just so amazing.”
