Bowersox always dreamed of having a shiny Hollywood smile
Crystal Bowersox says she has “always” wanted to get her teeth fixed. The American Idol runner-up — who recently showed off her brand new pearly whites on Twitter — told US TV show Good Morning America that she dreamed from a young age of having a Hollywood smile.
“It was something I’ve always wanted to do,” she said.
“I had braces when I was young and I couldn’t afford to finish treatment.
Bowersox had previously turned down an offer to get her teeth done for free earlier this year, saying that she was beautiful the way she was.
“I had turned down an offer that I thought was very rude,” said the 24-year-old.
“There was a dentist that made a public offer — he didn’t contact me personally, and so I turned him down publicly. It’s not that I didn’t want to do it. I’ve always wanted to do it.”
“I’m smiling with pure confidence for the first time in my life,” she added. “And it’s a good thing.”
Crystal recently revealed that her boyfriend, Ohio native Tony Kusia – whom she had dated for eleven months — shocked her when he announced he wanted to end the romance because he wanted a “simple, quiet life” away from Hollywood.
“That did shock me,” she said last month.
“I woke up Tuesday morning and he just had an epiphany. He wanted a simple, quiet life and I respect that. I’m glad he told me instead of sticking it out and realizing it later that he would be unhappy.
“We always had a real open and honest relationship with each other…I’ve had to deal with a lot worse in my life. It was bad timing, definitely. But I feel like I’ve never been stronger in my life. It was nothing that I couldn’t handle. I just channeled all of that emotion into my performances.”
