OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry has introduced his girlfriend Meghan Markle to Queen Elizabeth.
The 33-year-old royal took his partner – who he has been dating for just over a year – for tea with his grandmother at Buckingham Palace in London last Thursday in order to discuss their impending engagement, according to the Daily Mail newspaper.
A source told the publication: “The couple arrived in time for tea at around 5pm. It is the queen’s favourite part of the day and she loves it when her grandchildren are able to join her. She normally sits for half an hour eating from a selection of sandwiches, fruit or plain scones and cake. It is served with her own blend of Darjeeling and Assam tea, known as Queen Mary’s blend.”
Prince Philip – Harry’s grandfather – wasn’t present when the couple went for tea.
It’s believed the prince asked the 91-year-old monarch when he was at Balmoral Castle – where the queen spends her summer – a few weeks ago whether she would be willing to meet the ‘Suits’ actress, 36, when she next stops by in London.
And Meghan is certainly making a good impression on Harry’s family as it’s thought his father Prince Charles was “very impressed” when he met her earlier this year.
And Charles’ wife the Duchess of Cornwall – who he married in 2005 – reportedly told a member of staff that the brunette beauty was a “very nice girl and very pleasant.”
A spokesperson for Kensington Palace said: “We have refrained from commenting on all previous stories about Prince Harry introducing Meghan Markle to members of the Royal Family and therefore we have no comment.”
Meanwhile, it’s believed the couple will announce their engagement before Christmas and the actress – who lives in Toronto, Canada – will move to the UK permanently.
And should she become a full-time royal, Meghan- who has been a global ambassador for international charity World Vision since 2006 – is said to be keen to pursue further charity work and leave her career as an actress behind her.
