OHMYGOSSIP — Suranne Jones may quit acting to focus on producing.
The 39-year-old actress has enjoyed a highly successful career over the years – with roles in ‘Coronation Street’ and ‘Scott & Bailey’ – but she has admitted she’s starting to enjoy being behind the camera more than being on set since becoming associate producer on the forthcoming second series of the BBC drama ‘Doctor Foster’.
Speaking on ‘This Morning’ on Tuesday (05.09.17), she said: “I love the development and I’m so lucky to be working with writers like Mike Bartlett and Sally Wainwright next year. I’ve produced stuff – I produced the last ‘Scott & Bailey’ and I’m kind of learning. I wasn’t very good at school and I feel like I’m at school now and doing all the academic stuff behind the camera and I really like it.”
As well as producing the second instalment of the mystery drama and starring as the titular character – also known as Gemma Foster – the brunette beauty also had to juggle motherhood as her son, whose name is not yet known, joined her on set.
She explained: “He was six months old. We tried nursery but you’re just trying to figure out how childcare will work and then, of course, they go to nursery and they get ill so he had snot coming out of his nose, he had hand foot and mouth, he had all sorts of stuff I’ve never even heard of so then we had to bring him on set. I was trying to line up and carry him and it was full on.
“But I love being a mum. It is the best – I always knew it would be – and then I met Laurence and then a year later we got married and then a year later we had a baby.”
And Suranne would love to have another baby with her husband Laurence Akers but she’s so busy with her career at the moment that she doesn’t have time for pregnancy.
She added: “I’m in theatre in February and that’s on for 12 weeks. That’s ‘Frozen’ – not the Disney version – it’s a lot darker … and then I’m doing Sally Wainwright’s show.”
