The Inside Soap Awards nominations 2017
OHMYGOSSIP — Simon Gregson, Danny Dyer, John Middleton and Jamie Lomas are set to go head-to-head at this year’s Inside Soap Awards to be crowned the Best Actor of 2017.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actor – who plays ditsy cabbie Steve McDonald – has had a major storyline this year as his alter ego fathered his love child, lost his wife Michelle (Kym Marsh) and proposed to the mother of his son Leanne (Jane Danson), so it’s hardly surprising that he’s managed to worm his way into the list of nominations for the prestigious prize at the forthcoming ceremony in London on November 6.
But the 42-year-old star will have to fight off some stiff competition as Danny – who plays Mick Carter in ‘EastEnders’ – Emmerdale’s John, who portrayed late dementia sufferer Ashley Thomas, and Hollyoaks’ Jamie (Warren Fox) are hot on his heels.
Other people up for the gong in the Best Actor category include Coronation Street’s Connor McIntyre (Pat Phelan) and Jack P. Shepherd (David Platt), EastEnders’ Scott Maslen (Jack Branning) and Jake Wood (Max Branning), Emmerdale’s Ryan Hawley (Robert Sugden) and Danny Miller (Aaron Dingle), and Hollyoaks’ Gregory Finnegan (James Nightingale) and Kieron Richardson (Ste Hay).
Lacey Turner – who plays bipolar Stacey Fowler in ‘EastEnders’ – will no doubt be thrilled to learn that she’s made it into the Best Actress category once again.
But it’s not just the brunette beauty from the BBC One soap who has wiggled onto the nominations list as Diane Parish (Denise Fox) and Shona McGarty (Whitney Carter) are also in with the chance of nabbing the golden trophy this time around.
Coronation Street has done equally as well as Lucy Fallon (Bethany Platt), Kym Marsh (Michelle Connor) and Catherine Tyldesley (Eva Price) are also in the noms.
Emmerdale’s Charlotte Bellamy (Laurel Thomas), Zoe Henry (Rhona Goskirk) and Gillian Kearney (Emma Barton) also made the list alongside Hollyoaks’ Jessica Fox (Nancy Osborne), Nadine Mulkerrin (Cleo McQueen) and Anna Passey (Sienna Blake).
Chris Harper – who has played child groomer Nathan Curtis in ‘Coronation Street’ – has unsurprisingly made it into the nominations for Best Bad Boy, while EastEnders’ Aaron Sidwell – who portrays compulsive liar Steven Beale – and Emmerdale’s Michael Parr (Ross Barton) are also hoping to get their hands on the impressive award.
Equally, Coronation Street’s Samia Longchambon (Maria Connor), EastEnders’ Lorna Fitzgerald (Abi Branning) and Emmerdale’s Emma Atkins (Charity Dingle) are among those up for the Best Bad Girl prize at this year’s glamorous awards ceremony.
The Best Newcomer trophy is also up for grabs and will be won by either Coronation Street’s Julia Goulding and Rob Mallard, EastEnders’ Lee Ryan and Danny Walters, Emmerdales’ Sally Dexter and Emily Head, or Hollyoaks’ Theo Graham and Lauren McQueen.
Meanwhile, as per every year, the four shows will go head-to-head to win Best Soap, while ‘Doctors’, ‘Home and Away’ and ‘Neighbours’ will fight it out for Best Daytime Soap.
