Jeremy McConnell handed 12-month suspended sentence
OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy McConnell has been handed a 12-month suspended sentence.
The Irish hunk will have to serve 20 weeks in prison in a year’s time, carry out a Building Better Relationships course with the Probation Service, spend 15 days in rehab, complete 200 hours of unpaid work and cough up legal fees after he was found guilty of assaulting his now-ex-girlfriend Stephanie Davis in court earlier this week.
Judge Lloyd – who said she found it bizarre that Jeremy had described his behaviour in the trial as reasonable – said the 28-year-old star would have to pay £1,000 to the prosecution as well as £1,000 to Stephanie in compensation within 28 days.
Jeremy has also been banned from seeing or speaking to the former ‘Hollyoaks’ actress for three years and any contact regarding their seven-month-old son Caben Albi would have to be made via social services, solicitors or the family court.
Earlier this week, Stephanie appeared in court in Liverpool to give her version of events regarding a vicious scrap that broke out between them at her home on March 9.
The 24-year-old star broke down in tears in the witness stand as she recalled how Jeremy threw her around like a “rag doll” because he thought she was having an affair with her pregnant best friend and a fireman from across the road.
She said: “He was convinced I was having a lesbian affair with my pregnant friend, and the fireman across the road. He gets jealous. He was calling me a s**g, that I was fat and that no-one would ever want to touch me again.
“He put his thumb into the side of my gums, and that’s when I really started to panic. He was having, what I know and what Jeremy knows as, psychotic episodes.
“He took my phone off me, and I was trying to get it off him and he was ragging me everywhere. He bit the inside of my arm.”
Jeremy was expected to be sentenced on Monday (07.08.17) but it was delayed because the Probation Services in Dublin, Ireland, were unreachable.
