Ant McPartlin ‘over the worst’ of drink and drug addiction

OHMYGOSSIP — Ant McPartlin is “over the worst” of his addiction to drink and drugs.
The 41-year-old presenter is currently spending two months at a rehab clinic to treat his demons and sources close to the star have revealed he is “on the mend,” after he was spotted outside the compound for the first time on Saturday (29.07.17).
A source said: “He is doing really well. It has been a tough few weeks but he is coming through it and is now over the worst of it.
“Ant has been very brave and is totally committed to his recovery. All that matters to him is getting well and getting back to his best.
The TV favourite is reportedly set to meet his wife Lisa – who is a make-up artist on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ – and co-presenter Declan Donnelly soon in an “emotional” reunion, but up until now he has been determined to fight the battle on his own.
The source added to the Sunday Mirror: “Ant and Lisa have been apart for nearly two months. That would be tough for any married couple – but they will be reunited very soon.
“Lisa is desperate to see Ant and she is expected to visit him shortly. Dec will be also seeing him soon. It’s bound to be emotional but Ant knows that Dec will be there for him every step of the way.
“Until now, he has decided he needs to be on his own to focus entirely on his illness and how he can best recover.
“Ant knows he has so much love and support – but this is a very personal battle that he is determined to win.”
Ant had hidden his addictions from Dec and 40-year-old Lisa, who he married in 2006.
And then last month, he revealed how depression led to addiction to prescription drugs, which he was taking to relieve pain in his knee after a botched operation.
He said: “I feel like I have let a lot of people down and for that I am truly sorry.”I want to thank my wife, family and closest friends for helping me through this really difficult time. I’ve spoken out because I think it’s important that people ask for help if they’re going through a rough time and get the proper treatment to help their recovery.”
