Kylie Minogue receives Britain-Australia Society Award

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Philip has presented Kylie Minogue with the Britain-Australia Society Award for 2016.
The 95-year-old royal met with the Australian pop megastar on Tuesday (04.04.17) during an audience at Windsor Castle to award her with the honour on behalf of the Britain-Australia Society, which he has been the royal patron of since its conception.
The Britain-Australia Society was established in 1971 by the Prime Ministers of Britain and Australia, and works to advance the relationship between both countries through mutual interests in commerce, public service, education, entertainment, culture and sport.
The award – which has previously been handed to comedian Barry Humphries and the Right Honourable Lord William Hague – recognises Australian and British individuals who have made a significant contribution to the Australia-UK bilateral relationship.
Speaking about the society, the ‘Locomotion’ hitmaker said: “The Society does a wonderful job to promote the rich cultural ties between the two countries and I am honoured to be recognised by them in this way.”
And the 48-year-old musician also appeared in a short video clip posted to the Twitter account for the royal family, in which she said meeting Prince Philip – who is the husband of Queen Elizabeth – was “absolutely lovely”.
Speaking in the video clip, the ‘I Should Be So Lucky’ singer said: “We are here in the quadrangle of Windsor Castle which is terribly exciting. I was just presented with the Britain-Australia Award by His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh which was absolutely lovely. We had a good old chat, he was charm personified.”
The video was accompanied by a tweet which read: “Watch @KylieMinogue reflect on receiving the Britain-Australia Society Award for 2016 from The Duke of Edinburgh, at Windsor Castle. (sic)”
