Naomi Campbell is 'always' nervous before fashion shows
OHMYGOSSIP — Naomi Campbell is “always” nervous before she graces the catwalk.
The 46-year-old supermodel, who was scouted at the age of 15 and has boasted over 30 successful years at the helm of the fashion industry, has admitted she is always overcome with nervous ahead of gracing the runway, and the star’s “super confident” persona is simply a facade.
Speaking openly about her feelings of apprehension on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ on Monday (13.03.17), the brunette beauty – who has fronted campaigns for designer brands including Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Jacobs and Dolce and Gabbana – said: “I’ve always been [nervous], although I may look like I’m super confident.”
However, the catwalk icon believes a “little bit of fear” is what helps her to do her best work.
She continued: “I always think that little bit of fear is something you use to make you do your best.”
The ‘Empire’ actress – who plays the role of Camilla Marks in the American series – has advised budding models to pursue their dreams regardless of what other people say.
She said: “Strive for your dreams and don’t let anyone change the way you feel.”
Naomi is set to hold a fundraising event in Cannes, France, in May this year for the charity she founded in 2005 titled, Fashion for Relief, which will see all proceeds go towards Save the Children organisation and it’s Syria Crisis Appeal.
The star has admitted there is a “wish list” of celebrities she would love to model in the show, and she has hinted the people she has reached out to in the past have never refused to take part.
She said: “There’s always a wish list, but the thing is no one ever says no. It’s so much fun. The one we did with Jane Fonda in Cannes, she gave us all a lesson on how to walk with a trail that long, she skipped down the runway, it was amazing.”
