Audrey Eustace: Princess Diana was just a 'normal' person

OHMYGOSSIP — Princess Diana was a “normal” person, says Champneys beauty therapist Audrey Eustace.
The late royal – who tragically died following a fatal car crash in France in 1997 when she was just 36 years old – has been dubbed as “lovely” and “different” to the other celebrities who visited the four-star Champneys Tring spa hotel because she just wanted to be treated like any other guest.
Audrey Eustace, a beauty therapist who worked at the resort during Diana’s visits, said: “I remember meeting Princess Diana in 1985 as if it was yesterday. She was so lovely; there was no fuss, she was so normal.
“Over the years at Champneys I’ve lost count of the number of A-list celebrities. When one royal stayed here, people were instructed to bow. Princess Diana was so different.
“When she came here, she stayed in room 19. She would just wander about in a dressing gown and slippers and was happy to sit in the Jacuzzi with other guests and chat away.”
And Audrey also praised the royal – who had two sons Prince William, 34, and Prince Harry, 32, with her ex-husband Prince Charles – for having “incredible skin” which didn’t require the treatments on offer at the spa.
She added to Hello magazine ahead of the 20th anniversary of Diana’s death, which will be marked in August this year: “She was so beautiful and had incredible skin, there was very little treatment required. I think she just enjoyed coming and relaxing.”
Despite appearing chatty with other spa-goers, a previously never-before-seen letter – which was uncovered last month – has revealed the late royal felt “continuously misunderstood” by those around her.
Part of the letter – which was written by Princess Diana to her close friend Dudley Poplak in 1991 – reads: “I do feel extremely isolated more than ever now, as I see what’s coming to this country and this family.
“I feel that you believe in me, Dudley, and you’ve no idea what this means to me as I am continuously misunderstood by those around me.”
