Hugh Grant 'so pleased' with Supporting Actor gong at Hollywood Film Awards

OHMYGOSSIP — Hugh Grant is “so pleased” he scooped the Supporting Actor prize at the Hollywood Film Awards on Sunday night (06.11.16).
The 56-year-old actor was presented the gong by his ‘Four Weddings And A Funeral’ co-star Andie MacDowell for his role as St Clair Bayfield opposite Meryl Streep in ‘Florence Foster Jenkins’.
Accepting the gong, he joked that he wasn’t bothered about the ceremony’s second-tier status in Hollywood and said to the star-studded room: “I just wanted to say to the Hollywood Film Awards, some people have been rather snooty about you. I don’t feel that way at all. I almost never get a prize and I am so pleased with this one. It will not be in my (bathroom) or used as a doorstop. I may wear it as a broach… I am very, very pleased.”
Other highlights of the night were Eddie Murphy receiving a rapturous standing ovation as he collected the Hollywood Career Achievement Award and Mel Gibson taking home the Hollywood Director Award, which was presented by his Hacksaw Ridge stars Vince Vaughn and Andrew Garfield.
Elsewhere, Tom Hanks scooped the Hollywood Actor Award for his role as Capt. Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger in ‘Sully’ by legendary actor and director Clint Eastwood, and Casey Affleck presented the Hollywood Screenwriter Award to Kenneth Lonergan for his work on ‘Manchester by the Sea’.
James Corden hosted the glitzy ceremony which took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel and teased the celeb-packed crowd: “If you haven’t won an award tonight and you’re here, you should fire your publicist.”
