Kate Moss believes you ‘need a lot of patience’ to be a model
OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Moss believes you “need a lot of patience” to be a model. The 42-year-old supermodel – who was first scouted by Storm Model Management at the age of 14 – has advised budding stars who want to front a number of fashion and beauty campaigns must be patient, make an impact and be willing to stay later than the working hours.
Speaking about her tips for aspiring models, the catwalk icon said: “You need a lot of patience because it takes a long time to get pictures sometimes. You have to sit and let hair and make-up do what they want for hours and hours sometimes.
“You’ve got to work and make sure that when you go to that shoot, you’re going to walk away and they’re going to want to book you again because you’ve wiped the floor with everyone else.
“You’ve got to be careful. One dodgy one – it’s like that thing actors say, ‘You’re only as good as your last film.’ It’s the same in fashion.
“I always make sure that I don’t leave the job without getting the picture. It’s just that thing in me. I would never be nine to five. If we need another hour to do the picture, I’ll do that.”
And Kate – who has fronted campaigns for luxury designer brands including Burberry, Chanel and Dolce and Gabbana throughout her three-decade spanning career at the helm of the fashion industry – believes the key to success is making sure you work as team and bring a “creative vibe” on set with you.
She explained to Business of fashion website: “People like working with people instead of working for them. I am working with brands in different capacities, like Naked cashmere because they see that I’m on a creative vibe and not just a workhorse.”
