OHMYGOSSIP — Princess Diana has inspired a new capsule collection by ASOS.
A new range of clothing based on the late Princess of Wales – who died in a Paris car crash in August 1997 when she was just 36 – has been designed by the online retailer and includes items Diana wore while off duty.
Items are priced between £8 and £155 and include a pinstripe suit and hoop earrings.
The collection also includes a pinstripe jacket and flares, which resemble an outfit Diana wore to a 1996 charity event for Centrepoint.
The creator of the line is Sharmadean Reid MBE, who owns beauty brand WAH Nail, who was inspired after writing a feature on Diana for their in-house publication, WAH Zine
Talking about where the idea came from, she told Dazed Digital: One issue, we did a page called ‘When Di Was Fly’ and myself and Charlotte Roberts from The Mushpit had found all these images of Princess Diana in streetwear … She always loved bomber jackets, she actually dressed quite American preppy, she even wore Harvard jumpers.”
Design director for ASOS, Vanessa Spence, said: “Sharmadean is the ultimate female creative, we are of course excited to collaborate with her.
“With the majority of our collaborations, we try and offer our customer something different from the brands usual product mix and this first clothing and accessory collection by ASOS x Wah does just that.”
