Isla Fisher wants to play Miss Trunchbull in Matilda
OHMYGOSSIP – Isla Fisher would love to play Miss Trunchbull in ‘Matilda’ if the 1996 classic gets a remake. The 40-year-old actress has revealed she’d like to play the fictional headmistress of Crunchem Hall Primary School and main antagonist in Roald Dahl’s classic adaptation, which was played by British actress Pam Ferris.
She said: “I would love to play Miss Trunchbull in ‘Matilda.”
However, the flame-haired beauty doesn’t think she’d stand a chance of getting the role, should they make another version of the film, which was released in 1996 and is more likely to be cast as Pippi Longstocking’s mother.
She added to the Daily Mail newspaper: “If only height wasn’t an issue! Or Lady Macbeth … but I think I would be more likely to be cast as Pippi Longstocking’s mother.”
Meanwhile, Isla – who is married to ‘Zoolander’ star Sacha Baron Cohen with whom she has Olive, eight, Elula, five and 14-month-old son Montgomery – says she picks her movie roles based on the quality of the directors.
She said: “When it comes to picking films, the director comes first. In ‘Keeping Up with the Joneses’ – in which I play a bored suburban housewife married to Zach Galifianakis – I got to work with the wonderful Greg Mottola of ‘Superbad’ fame. And Tom Ford, who I worked with on ‘Nocturnal Animals’, is the ideal director-collaborative, fiercely intelligent and a brilliant storyteller. He is so special. He’s one of those people who you meet and feel instantly like an underachiever.”
