Finnish singer and songwriter Maija Vilkkumaa finished her master’s degree: It took 31 years to study
OHMYGOSSIP – Singer-songwriter Maija Vilkkumaa (49) graduated from the University of Helsinki with a master’s degree in philosophy majoring in the Finnish language, reports Helsingin Sanomat.
The singer studied for 31 years. He started studying at the university in 1992, after which soon rock and his artistic career began to dominate her life.
“It’s wonderful that the 31-year journey has finally come to an end. But yes, there is also a feeling of nostalgia: there will be no more new courses. I guess I won’t be a real linguist,” Vilkkumaa told to Helsingin Sanomat.
Maija Vilkkumaa has been active as an artist for a very long time, her career started in the Tarharymmä band. However, the solo artist’s career took off in 1999 with the song Satumaa-tango.
Vilkkumaa is one of the artists with the most album sales in Finland. The eighth studio album 1973 was released in October 2022. In November 2023, Vilkkumaa will perform at the Helsinki Ice Hall.
