Mel B to host UK version of Lip Sync Battle
OHMYGOSSIP — Melanie Brown has been announced at the host of the upcoming UK version of the hit show ‘Lip Sync Battle’.
The former Spice Girls singer – who was axed from ‘The X Factor’ earlier this year – will front the hit show when it launches in the UK next year.
She said: “It’s great to be asked to present this show. Who doesn’t love letting out their inner diva? The US version has me in fits of laughter and I can’t wait to see how the UK show contestants give it their all. I’ll be sure to keep everyone in line!”
While LL Cool J hosts the US version of the show alongside model Chrissy Teigen, it’s yet to be revealed whether Mel will have a co-host.
Channel 5’s commissioning editor Steve Regan said: “When looking at top talent you don’t get much bigger than Mel B. Mel has attitude, experience and unmistakable swagger, all vital ingredients for this high-energy show.
“She is the perfect fit and we couldn’t be happier to have her on board. If you thought the US series got gutsy, watch out world – the Brits are coming.”
The programme sees two celebrities go head-to-head in a bid to out-perform one another while lip-syncing to famous songs.
Some of the most memorable performances on the US version included Anne Hathaway singing Miley Cyrus’ ‘Wrecking Ball’ and Terry Crew’s topless rendition of ‘A Thousand Miles’.
The UK version of ‘Lip Sync’ Battle is set to launch on Channel 5 in 2016.
