Jerusalem: The International Arts and Crafts Festival “Chutzot Hayotzer 2015”

OHMYGOSSIP — The International Arts and Crafts Festival (Chutzot Hayotzer 2015), Jerusalem is held at the Khutsot Hayotser Arts and Crafts Center, Mitchell Gardens and the Merrill Hassenfeld Amphitheater in the Sultan’s Pool, opposite the Tower of David at the foot of the Old City Walls. This year the Festival is celebrating 40 years of the cultural event that has become a tradition in Jerusalem and the main tourist and artistic attraction of the summer season.

What: The International Arts and Crafts Festival “Khutsot Hayotser Jerusalem 2015
Since 1976, Hutzot Hayotzer and the Sultan’s Pool area have been the site of the annual International Arts and Crafts Fair or Festival, a 12-day event in August featuring the work of local and international artists. There are also open-air concerts, workshops for children and food booths. Many of Israel’s leading pop and rock stars have performed at Hutzot Hayotzer. During the festival, the artist studios along the lane stay open late and the artists offer public demonstrations of their work.

Where: Hutzot Hayotzer, also spelled Khutsot Hayotser, is an arts and crafts lane in Jerusalem, Israel, located west of the Old City walls. It is placed in the Valley of Hinnom between Yemin Moshe to the south, and David’s Village (Kfar David in Hebrew) and the Mamilla Mall to the north. Other nearby landmarks are the Teddy Park (named after Teddy Kollek) and Sultan’s Pool to the south.

The Festival is open every evening (except Fridays) from 18:00 – 23:00
Saturday from 21:00 until midnight.

The Israeli Pavilion
Around 200 of the best of Israel’s artists and artisans exhibit paintings, prints, ceramics, metalwork and jewelry, weaving and textiles, Judaica, toys, crafts in various techniques, works in wood and more.

The International Pavilion
Guest artists and artisans from abroad perform and exhibit their crafts and objets d’art at the Festival in unique booths and exhibits and demonstrate the creative process of their work. The international exhibit includes authentic and varied arts and crafts:
From the Far East: China, India, Indonesia, South Korea and Sri Lanka.
From South and Central America: Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay.
From Europe: Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Macedonia (FYROM), Romania and Serbia.
From Asia: Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania,Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.
From Africa: Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar and Zimbabwe.
