Gemma Ward makes modelling comeback
OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Ward made her modelling comeback last night (18.09.14). The 26-year-old beauty has been on a seven-year hiatus from the fashion industry but last night took to the catwalk for Prada’s spring/summer 2015 show at Milan Fashion Week, the Daily Telegraph newspaper reports.
The supermodel – who was scouted when she was just 14-years-old and made her catwalk debut at 15-years-old – retired in 2007 and disappeared from the spotlight altogether in 2008 to deal with the loss of fellow Australian and Hollywood actor Heath Ledger.
Gemma – who has appeared in a number of films including ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ and ‘The Great Gatsby’ since quitting modelling – has spoken out about losing Heath, whom she was seeing at the time of his death from an overdose, in the past.
Speaking in 2011, she said: ”I have taken a break from the media spotlight for the past few years and it was something spurred by Heath’s death. [Heath and I] first met in New York and we were both struggling with things that I won’t go into, and we bonded over that.
”I met him and said, ‘I’m kind of going through a hard time and I’m not interested in having a serious relationship with somebody right now’, and he was like, ‘You know, let’s just be there for each other through these hard times we’re both going through’. And we developed a relationship and we started seeing each other.”
However, the young star has since found love with fellow model David Letts, with whom she has a nine-month-old daughter Naia.
