Prince William and Duchess Catherine to open Oxford building
OHMYGOSSIP — Britain’s Prince William and Duchess Catherine are set to open a new building which forms part of St Hugh’s College Oxford as their first official joint engagement.
Kensington Palace has confirmed that the royal couple will arrive in the city on September 8 where they will officially open The Dickson Poon University of Oxford China Centre Building – a new part of St Hugh’s College which is dedicated to those studying China-related topics.
It is believed the pair will attend the traditional ceremony of ribbon cutting in the building’s courtyard as well as meeting current staff and students before receiving a tour.
The milestone event will mark the couple’s first joint engagement, Hello! magazine reports.
Meanwhile, Duchess Catherine is set to make her first solo tour of Malta next week.
The 32 year old – who is set to travel to Malta without the accompaniment of her husband Prince William and their son Prince George – will enjoy a two-day stay on the Mediterranean island on behalf of the Queen in late September as the country celebrates the 50th anniversary of its independence from the United Kingdom.
The pretty brunette’s tour will begin with a meeting with the Prime Minister Joseph Muscat at the Auberge de Castille where she will view the In Guardia re-enactment at the Palace Square, Valletta.
Her engagements include visiting the National Library, an official Independence Day reception at the Upper Barrakka, spending the night at President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca’s San Anton Palace, as well as a Garden Party hosted by the British High Commissioner.
