Lupita Nyong’o’s Golden Globes gown solidified star status
OHMYGOSSIP — Lupita Nyong’o’s stylist, Macaela Erlanger, claims the actress’ stunning red Golden Globes gown “solidified” her as an icon.
The ’12 Years A Slave’ star – who plays young slave Patsey in Steve McQueen’s Oscar-winning drama – wore a striking caped Ralph Lauren dress on the red carpet at the A-List event on January 12, and stylist Macaela Erlanger thinks this was moment she first became a true Hollywood star.
Macaela told ABC News: “It’s been a whirlwind, that’s for sure. I think the moment that really changed the game was her in the red Ralph Lauren gown. That, to me, really solidified her as an icon, as a star.”
Lupita paired the outfit – which was unveiled in the US designer’s spring 2014 collection during New York Fashion Week – with jewellery by Fred Leighton.
The stylist is meticulous when it comes to fashion and thinks people shouldn’t be worried about experimenting with colour.
Sharing her top style tips, Macaela added: “Take pictures of yourself in front, side and back to see how things read. I love bold hues. People shouldn’t be afraid of colour.”
