Cannes Film Festival line-up confirmed

OHMYGOSSIP — Cannes Film Festival has revealed the line-up for this year’s gala, including films starring Ryan Gosling, Justin Timberlake and Matt Damon.

‘Only God Forgives’, ‘Behind the Candelabra’ and ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’ will compete at the 66th annual Cannes Film Festival.

The annual film gala has announced its 2013 line-up with the hotly anticipated Ryan Gosling-starring ‘Only God Forgives’ – which reunites him with ‘Drive’ director Nicolas Winding Refn – competing for the prestigious Palme d’Or award.

The film will face stiff competition from previous Palme d’Or winner Steven Soderbergh, who will screen his Liberace biopic ‘Behind the Candelabra’, which stars Michael Douglas in the lead role as the flamboyant performer and Matt Damon as his secret gay lover.

Hollywood representation at the French film festival will also come from Joel and Ethan Coen. The directorial duo will compete for the prize with ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’, the Sixties drama about a young folk singer which stars Justin Timberlake and Carey Mulligan.

Organisers previously revealed that Baz Luhrmann’s eagerly awaited blockbuster ‘The Great Gatsby’ will open this year’s Cannes festival, although it will air out of competition.

The lavish adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s 1925 novel of the same name stars Leonardo DiCaprio as billionaire Jay Gatsby. The cast also includes Mulligan, Tobey Maguire, Isla Fisher and Joel Edgerton.

Other movies airing out of competition are Sofia Coppola’s ‘The Bling Ring’, the heist film about real life celebrity robberies starring ‘Harry Potter’ actress Emma Watson, and James Franco’s latest directorial effort ‘As I Lay Dying’.

This year’s Palme d’Or judging panel is led by ‘Lincoln’ director Steven Spielberg.

Cannes Film Festival takes place between May 15-26.
