Julian Fellowes to produce Atlantis: Revelation
OHMYGOSSIP — Julian Fellowes will executive produce ‘Atlantis: Revelation’, a film adaptation of Marcus Blake’s upcoming novel of the same name exploring the lost city of Atlantis.
Julian Fellowes will produce ‘Atlantis: Revelation’. The ‘Downton Abbey’ creator will oversee the ambitious project which will adapt Marcus Blake’s upcoming novel exploring the mythical lost city of Atlantis, according to Deadline.
The film – which is envisaged as the first in a new franchise – will be a collaboration between Amber Entertainment and Penguin Books UK, which is set to publish the first story in Blake’s action-adventure book trilogy in October.
Fellowes said in a statement: “There are few legends that seem to touch the very heart of our human story, but the tale of the lost city of Atlantis is one of them, the dazzling civilization, beautiful, glamorous, rich beyond measure, that was plunged beneath the sea. It is an inspiring thought that this generation is to have its own retelling of the story, made even more so by the involvement of Penguin publishing, a company that has made the care of our literary culture their chief business for so many years.”
Amber Entertainment executives Ileen Maisel and Lawrence Elman added: “Atlantis has been part of the collective unconscious and is a myth that is known all around the world. To marry this extraordinary story with a well-known thriller genre will make for both compulsive reading as well as for compulsive movie-going.”
The production company is also behind Julian Fellowes’ forthcoming ‘Romeo and Juliet’ adaptation starring Hailee Steinfeld and Douglas Booth, which will be released later this year.
