Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to get garden room

OHMYGOSSIP — The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are to have a new “garden room” built at Anmer Hall, a property set to be gifted to them at Sandringham estate in Norfolk.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are to have a new “garden room” built at Anmer Hall.

The royal couple are set to be gifted the nine bedroom property on the royal Sandringham estate in Norfolk but changes will be made, including the building of the new room, by architect Charles Morris.

Morris is a friend of the Prince of Wales – Prince William’s father – after he designed the Orchard Room at his Highgrove estate. He will also supervise the re-routing of the mansion’s main driveway to give the couple more privacy and the conversion of outbuildings for use by their security staff.

Planning permission has been granted to the Queen by King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Council, but expires in 2016, suggesting the monarch wants to have the building work done and move Prince William and Duchess Catherine into the property before then.

Plans for the proposed building work seen by the Daily Telegraph newspaper show the garden room will be built onto the existing kitchen at the side of the house. A pergola will also be added over a patio to give the couple extra privacy.

A wood store is also to be converted into a sitting room, possibly for police protection officers. Trees will also be planted around the house to increase privacy and a new gate across what is currently a public road will be built.
