OHMYGOSSIP — Guy Ritchie has been tapped to helm Treasure Island. The Sherlock Holmes director will direct the new adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel for Warner Bros, according to Deadline.
The studio has hired Alex Harakis to write the script, based on an idea that was conceived by Ritchie’s partner Lionel Wigram.
The pair previously developed the Ritchie-directed Sherlock Holmes and its sequel Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows together.
In January, Ritchie signed on to direct a third Sherlock Holmes movie, which he hopes to film in Hollywood.
Action star Jason Statham recently credited Ritchie with helping him to establish a movie career, saying that the director gave him his first big break.
