Jennifer Hudson didn’t want to gain weight for movie

Jennifer Hudson has revealed she turned down an opportunity to star in the Academy Award nominated 2009 film Precious.

The actress says she could have played the part that went to Gabourey Sidibe — but she didn’t want to gain weight.

“I had [gained weight] with Effie [in Dreamgirls],” she said.

“And as much as I was moved by this film, I wanted to try a role that had nothing whatsoever to do with my weight.”

Since her days on American Idol, Hudson has dropped 80 lbs. with the help of Weight Watchers. In September, she even opened up the Jennifer Hudson Weight Watchers Center in Chicago.
