John Travolta’s car stolen in Santa Monica
Actor John Travolta parked his vintage 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280SL around the block from a Jaguar dealership in Santa Monica, and when he returned a few minutes later, the car was gone, police said today.
Travolta left his car in a residential area on Berkeley Street Sunday and walked to the Jaguar dealership on Olympic Boulevard, Santa Monica police Sgt. Richard Lewis said, according to a story posted on the Los Angeles Times website.
After returning and realizing the car was gone, Travolta — who had the keys for the Mercedes-Benz with him — went back to the Jaguar dealership and waited for police to take a report, police said.
Travolta parked catty corner from the Hornburg Jaguar dealership at 3300 Olympic Blvd., which also sells Land Rovers, and walked through an alley to the back of the dealership, Lewis said.
Detectives had no leads “at the time it was taken, investigators have their ways of tracking down vehicles and stuff and we’ll see what they can come up with,” Lewis said.
