Girlfriends helped singer Avril Lavigne deal with marriage collapse
Avril Lavigne says her friends “were there for” her when she split from ex-husband Deryck Whibley easier. The Complicated hitmaker — who finalized her divorce from the Sum 41 rocker last November and is now dating Brody Jenner – has revealed confided in her girlfriends to deal with the end of her marriage.
“They were there for me. It did me really good to be able to tell them everything,” she said.
“It helped me come to terms with the things that had happened. It also helped put my feelings down in paper. It was comforting. It’s always been like that for me.
“When I was a kid, I had my diary to confide everything in.
“Now I write songs. It really was a form of healing.”
Avril recently insisted she’s in a “great place” with Deryck.
“We’re very good friends,” she said. “He’s family to me. We both respect and care for each other very much. We’re in a great place.”
