Anderson Cooper’s TV talk show to air on 21 major market stations
Anderson Cooper’s new TV talk show will reportedly air on 21 major market stations! According to trade rag The Hollywood Reporter, the one-hour daily program — which is currently untitled — will be seen in key hubs New York (WPIX), Los Angeles (KTTV), Chicago (WFLD) and Boston (WFXT).
Warner Bros. Domestic TV Distribution is comparing Cooper to talk legends Oprah Winfrey and Phil Donahue as a “once in a decade opportunity” for stations to land a “game changer” personality.
“This is a series that has the ability to play to a wide audience, whether it’s adjacent to local news or coming out of morning magazines,” said WB sales executive Rick Meril.
“And, it is a testament to its strength that stations are now rushing to secure the show for their program line-up and that San Diego and Bakersfield will air Anderson in place of Oprah next fall.”
Cooper recently revealed how Lady GaGa got him drunk on whiskey.
The CNN journalist said he was excited to meet the Bad Romance singer when he recently interviewed her for 60 Minutes — even though GaGa got him to drink on the job.
“We actually ended up that day in a pub in London drinking Jameson, which I don’t really drink,” he said.
“So, she got me to drink like two of them, and by the end I was ready to have the interview be over because I really sort of couldn’t ask anymore questions.”
