Colin Firth: My heart belongs to my wife
Colin Firth’s heart belongs to his wife. The King’s Speech actor is flattered when he receives attention from other women but insists he will always be devoted to his Italian wife Livia Giuggioli — the mother of his sons Luca, nine and Matteo, seven — because she is so attentive to his needs.
“Oh, I appreciate the smiles I receive on occasion from rather beautiful women. But my heart is reserved for my lovely wife Livia,” he said.
“Livia is there for me when I need to have a good cry and feel very sorry for myself. She gives me a kiss and a cup of tea, and the world feels good again when my children run up to me for a hug.”
Colin — who also has a 20-year-old son from a previous relationship with Meg Tilly – also insisted his achievements shouldn’t be celebrated more than his parents and other people who do charity work.
“My parents and many other people have worked hard for humanitarian causes and they are real heroes,” he said. “They deserve to be hailed for their incredible self-sacrifice.”
