Rachael Ray insists her looks are easy to maintain

Rachael Ray admits she’s no maintenance when it comes to her beauty routine. The TV star insists the only thing she does in front of the mirror in the morning is moisturize. “No maintenance — other than moisturizers,” she said. “I slather on gallons of them. It’s just the way I was raised.”

“My mom taught my sister and me to start using moisturizers when we were still teenagers, you know. I use eye cream and good facial wash and tons of potions and lotions and goop on my face, and that’s about it!

“[As for exercise,] I do sit-ups and push-ups at home, and that’s about it. I have a gym card, but I never go there. It’s a front. I pay for the membership every couple of years, thinking I’ll be embarrassed enough to go. But every time I go, there’s like people twice my age that look twice as good!”

Ray recently admitted she doesn’t have many friends — because she’s too busy.

“I never had a ton of girlfriends or boyfriends ’cause I work a lot,” she said.

“I always have. And some of my closest friends I work with, so we see each other when I’m at work and, you know, I’ve got a couple of friends from back in the day. We really just talk on the phone once every few months and we see each other maybe once or twice a year ’cause I just work a ton, so…”

“I can’t really sit idle,” she adds. “I don’t mind if it’s a rainy day watching TV all day in bed with my dog. That’s fun. But generally speaking, unless it’s pouring rain outside, or unless I’m really, really sick, it freaks me out to kind of be still.

“The best I can do is write when I go on vacation, which is a fairly quiet activity. I’ll write the books or recipes or whatever.”
