Kate Middleton and Prince William to wed in 2011

Prince William and his girlfriend Kate Middleton plan to tie the knot next year — according to a new report from Us Weekly magazine. The pair, who have dated on and off for the past eight years, will announce their engagement in 2011 and walk down the aisle shortly after.

“The engagement will be announced in 2011,” dished one insider.

“He wants to spend the rest of his life with her.”

Previous reports claimed William and Kate will tie the knot next spring — as they want their big day around the time when the world’s spotlight is on London — for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in June and the Games which start July 27.

“William and Kate are both aware a royal wedding followed by the jubilee celebrations and the Olympics will really put Britain on the map again,” a source told Britain’s News of The World newspaper.

“This will be a landmark occasion. The Chinese may have put on a great show for the last Olympics but nobody can do royal pomp like we can. It will be spectacular.

“There is no doubt that Kate is the right girl for William. Their future together is sealed.

“The powers that be, and I mean right to the top, see this as the perfect opportunity to secure the monarchy at the heart of the people at a time when the media focus is on our country.”

“Kate will be at William’s side as his wife for the jubilee in the Olympic year, but their reasoning not to wed before then is simply that it will focus undue attention on them before they want it.

“Today they live in relative peace. They enjoy a life like no other royal couple before them. As soon as they wed they know Kate will become public property. There is no need to put undue pressure on themselves right now.”
