Dina Lohan: Lindsay wants to open her own rehab facility for kids

Lindsay Lohan wants to open rehab facilities for children. The Machete actress is currently undergoing treatment at the Betty Ford Clinic in California and her mother Dina revealed the star is so impressed with her care there she hopes to open up her own centers to help young kids.

“We’ll take it one day at a time,” Dina said. “I don’t have a crystal ball. I pray hard and she wants to start her own facilities, help other children. She’s so public, we can only be positive and look to the future to help other families.”

Lindsay, 24, has previously received treatment at several other rehabilitation clinics but Dina believes she is finally getting the treatment she needs to overcome her problems.

“She’s been in a couple of facilities, but this one, to me, has really changed her. They get into your psyche and bring the problem to the surface,” Dina adds.

“Lindsay wants to stay. She’s learning the trigger points and why she turns to something — drugs or addiction.”

Meanwhile, Lindsay was spotted in a department store near the clinic last Wednesday and insiders say she has received day passes for good behavior.

“Once a patient has been at Betty Ford for 45 days and the person is progressing, their treatment team begins to explore letting the patient leave the facility for short outings,” a source said.

It is hoped that by gradually getting used to the outside world, there is less chance the troubled actress will relapse when she finishes her treatment.

“Betty Ford empowers their patients with tools so that when they are discharged, the patient doesn’t feel overwhelmed with anxiety about being out in the real world again,” said the source.

“Lindsay’s counselors give her passes and if she has any issues while she is out, she can talk about it with her treatment team.

“Now that she has been given these passes and experiencing a little taste of freedom, the odds of her relapsing are lower.”

Lindsay was ordered by a Los Angeles court to stay in rehab until January 3 2011 after she tested positive for cocaine during a random drug test in September.
