Betty White launches scathing attack on stale reality TV shows
Betty White hates reality TV shows! “I think with reality shows, they get a little stale a little fast,” she told Fox News. “I think there is always room for good writing. We need to get right back to the writing because that’s where the heart of it is.”
White also confessed she was shocked that The Golden Girls — which centered on four older women sharing a Miami home — became such a hit with viewers.
“When they first put us on, who would have ever thought that a show about four old ladies would get popular?” she said.
“The writers are the ones that make the show. And to have the kind of writing that I was lucky to get on the Mary Tyler Moore Show and The Golden Girls is just more than you can ever dream of in a career.”
White, 88, recently insisted she’ll retire from Hollywood when people stop giving her work.
“[Retirement] is not a dirty word, I am just enjoying what I am doing,” said Betty, who can currently be seen starring in TV Land comedy Hot In Cleveland.
“If they want me to retire, then stop asking me. Ask and I will say yes unless it is something I really don’t like.”
