Ben Affleck hated being fodder for tabloids

Ben Affleck decided to change his life because he was tired of being in gossip magazines. The actor — who was once engaged to singer Jennifer Lopez, but now raises two young children with his actress wife Jennifer Garner – says he hated being tabloid fodder.

“That’s about when I realized I didn’t want to be the guy in the tabs,” said Ben of his engagement to Lopez.

“So I changed my life.”

Affleck stars in and directs his new film The Town – and admits he was terrified about becoming a director.

“It’s a double-edged sword being the director. You get the praise but also the blame,” he said.

“It’s like a roller coaster and The Town is my second time on it. This time, at least, I know that upside-down loop won’t kill me.

“But the fear is healthy because I know one thing: I just want each movie to work so I can do another one. I want to tell great stories.”
